Awesome family owned restaurant. Flavorful sauces awesome pizza, sandwiches and other classic homemade Italian food. If you like Italian this is the place to go. Family runs the place and serves their customers. Visit the SE 14th location. The other location isn't as good and not ran by the same family.

I was looking for a good Midwestern style pizza (thin crust, lots of toppings) in Des Moines and read about the top five in Des Moines and this was on there. It was well worth the drive to the South Side. We started off with the homemade onion rings, which needed salt, but once added were addicting. Next, the combo pizza with homemade sausage was a great Midwestern style pizza. It was easy to tell that the crust was homemade and hand-tossed. All the employees were extremely nice, but the place was kind of a dive, but that did not take away from the food.

Had lunch at this place during a break between soccer games at the nearby Cownie Soccer Park. The feel of this place is authentic Italian from the moment you walk in; that 1970's American Italian restaurant feel that is, which I like - kinda reminds me of places my Dad would take me to. When trying new Italian restaurants, I always go with the house lasagna (see my review at Marino's as an example of another local option) with a house salad. When getting a salad, but sure to ask for the dressing on the side -- just trust me on that one. The lasagna had a zesty sauce, which I liked, and the sausage was great. The size of the dish was substantial, especially for a lunch menu item. My family also enjoyed their meals. Overall, I really think this place really will satisfy you if you are desiring authentic Italian food. The service was a little slow at times, but the staff was friendly. If you are in the area, check it out.

The Italian beef sandwich is pretty great. Everything even looks and smells So Good. While there aren't a ton of seats (this place is quite small) I really love the look and feel to eat. Everyone there seems really nice. This might be (or become) my go to Italian place in town.

Not terrible but nowhere near the best. The place was clean and modern. We were seated in the front room which was cold from the door. Didnt realize there was a whole nother eating area until i went to the bathroom. It wouldve been quieter (no tv) and more comfortable overall. Our waitress was adequate but a little unfriendly. I prefer a waitress who smiles especially with so little people there. The food came out quick enough. The onion rings werent bad and the pizza was decent but not incredible. The cheesecake dessert was horrible. Cheap freezercase obviously. I wouldve said id come back if Paesano's was too busy but i discovered Scorno's North. And its a night and day difference. Go there.

The pizza I picked up tonight was white, as in under cooked, and was not cut all the way through. I had to come home and fire up my oven just to get the pizza to be edible. Not impressed.

One of my favorite places anywhere to get pizza. Very thin crust with just the right amount of sauce, chesse and ingredients. This has been our go-to place for pizza for decades, literally. Not fancy at all, come as you are atmosphere. Could use some remodeling, but I have never had any concerns about cleanliness here. The only negative is that it can be greasy. Put a napkin on top and let it soak up the grease so that is not a problem. Highly recommended. I did put this at the $ level, but it is at the very top of that catagory or even a tiny bit higher. The next higher catagory would have been too misleading.

This is by far the best pizza I have had since leaving Chicago! The combo pizza is the way to go if you're a meat eater. I first tried this restaurant in April and I was thoroughly impressed. Hoping it wasn't a fluke I went back last weekend. OMG, I was in pizza heaven. The breaded mushrooms make a fresh and tasty side dish. The service was quick, we got it to go. I don't live in Iowa, but will make it a point to go to Scornovacca's every time I am there.

I took my boy here for lunch. Service was attentive and friendly and we were updated on the status of our orders. We each had a 9" pizza. Pretty good pies that were worth the wait and there was enough left over to snack on later.

Went here Saturday and had an excellent meal. Pasta and home made meatballs with a nice almost spicy marinara. My meal also came with a salad/garlic bread and I had the house creamy romano dressing which was excellent. My dining companions split a pizza and onion rings which I had to try both. The pizza had a nice thin crust and plenty of toppings. The onion rings were also very good. I might have given this place 5 stars but they are little pricey and my waitress originally forgot to bring out my salad. I'm looking forward to going back.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
